I'm happy to say that it's been an exciting few days around here!
Not only are we getting ready for a few big festivals coming up next month (more about that in a bit), but also to announce that Donegal Celtic Crafts, a crafts shop specialising in traditional and handmade crafts, has just opened in Bundoran in Co. Donegal, and that the owners Arthur and Tracy Forbes are now selling our kitchen plaques, mandalas and town/county name plaques in their beautiful new shop.

In addition to these, we also do commissioned personalised kitchen and town name plaques, on request, so if there's a special someone you'd like to give a personalised plaque to - perhaps as a housewarming gift, or as a unique Mother's Day or Christmas prezzie, just call into the shop and give Arthur or Tracy your specifics, and you'll have a beautiful, one-of-a-kind kitchen plaque or town name plaque for your home or as a gift.

Donegal Celtic Crafts has many different types of beautiful hand-crafted pieces for sale, including carved wooden harps (that you can see displayed in their shop window above), crafted by Arthur himself, as well as pieces carved from peat turf and decorative wall hangings crafted from brass. In addition to being a master craftsman, Arthur is also a portrait artist - as you can also see in their shop front window, above.
If you're visiting Ireland on holiday and are in the beautiful county of Donegal and the seaside family resort area of Bundoran, do stop in to Arthur and Tracy's lovely new shop, and have a look at all the hand-crafted pieces they have on offer, or check them out on Facebook. They'd make perfect gifts or souvenirs from your visit to the seaside resort. The shop is located right on the main shopping street in Bundoran's town centre.

In other news, as summer in Ireland is well known for being a time of county fairs and fetes, town parades, agricultural shows and music and family festivals, we're excited to announce that we've just confirmed a stall for three festivals coming up next month.
The first one we'll be at is the 34th annual O'Carolan's Harp and Traditional Music Festival, in the pretty village of Keadue, in Co. Roscommon, taking place on the 3rd and 4th, with craft stalls being set up on Sunday, the 4th, culminating with a parade through the town.
A few days later, on Wednesday and Thursday, August 7th and 8th, we'll be at the annual Siamsa Sraide Festival, in Swinford, Co. Mayo, as part of their 26th annual festival, which officially begins on Sunday, August 3rd and continues on until the 8th. This promises to be a fun-filled festival for all the family, including traditional Irish music.
Towards the end of the month, we'll also be at the annual Cong Festival/John Wayne Film Festival, in Cong, Co. Mayo, that will be a three-day event, beginning on the 24th to the 26th of August. If you're a fan of John Wayne's films, this is a don't-miss event, as there will be not only a special screening of John Ford's classic 'The Quiet Man' - the town of Cong was where much of the film was shot - but there will also be re-enactments of memorable scenes from the classic and much-loved film.
So whether you're a local resident in Mayo, Roscommon or Donegal and looking for some great family fun, or visiting Ireland on your summer holiday, there's lots going on all summer long. We're really looking forward to being a part of these great traditional summer festivals, and we're hoping to meet and chat with you, so come and say hello.
And one last bit of exciting news is to announce that our new Etsy shop is just about ready to open its doors. At the moment, we're selecting photos of what will be in stock, including Celtic crosses, key chain holder wall hangings, mandalas, personalised kitchen plaques. We'll be adding a link to our Etsy shop once we've stocked it, so watch this space (and our shop).

Hi Pili - Yep! I'm going to be very busy these next couple of months, and that makes me very happy. I'm hoping the weather will behave itself for at least one of these festivals, as it's been so unpredictable and sometimes just crazy here - one minute sunshine and the next, a downpour.
The Etsy shop should be fully stocked and ready to open in mid or at the end of August. We need to keep as many plaques and mandalas and crosses here rather than in the Etsy shop because of the festivals being so close to one another, dates-wise.
Thanks so much for the good wishes about the festivals and the new shop selling our stuff. Fingers crossed Bundoran gets a lot of tourists.

Hiya Bridget - Looking forward to seeing you in Keadue, too. Have you heard back from Tony yet? Set-up time is about half one, and it really sounds like it's going to be brilliant on the Sunday.

I'm pretty sure I know how to get there, after chatting with Tony. It's near Lough Key, he said - and I've been there plenty of times, so it should be easy-peasy. Now all we need is some good weather to cooperate with us on the day.

Hi Denni - Yep, you're right - we've been pretty much making more and more plaques, non-stop, so it's a bit of pressure - in a good way, though - to get everything in done in time for all these festivals, but it's a great 'complaint' to have.
Thanks for your warm wishes, Denni. I wish you could just hop on a plane and come out to visit, too. Maybe next summer. I'll definitely try to remember to take some photos - not just our stall, but the parade and the lovely village that Keadue is, as well. Roll on, August!

Just had to let you know how much I LOVE my mandala that I ordered from you:)) It is beautiful --full of the colors that I love.
It arrived in perfect condition and my husband who likes to think he is part Irish has tried to claim it, but I have told him it's going in my studio to make me smile and remind me I have a good friend in Ireland:)))

Hi Dreama - That just makes my heart sing. Commissions are the most challenging because you want to get it 'just right' - especially the colours. I'm so delighted that you like it, but please - no fighting over it between yourself and your hubby, lol. I'm chuffed that you want to put it in your studio. What an honour - I hope Eddie approves of it, as well.
You do have a good friend in Ireland - come on over any time for a cuppa or a workshop...or both! I live in hope that one day, you'll come over to do a workshop and a mini-holiday here in Ireland.

Hi Ana - Thanks so much for the warm wishes about the crafts shop in Bundoran. They've just posted a little something about it on their own Facebook page, and that just made my whole day seeing that. Hopefully, people will like them and I'll soon be getting requests to do more of them.
As for the upcoming fairs and festivals and the weather, we've got a different dilemma here. It's not boiling hot to where you can't/don't want to go outside, but more along the lines of hoping it won't rain. The last festival we were all set to do, in Strandhill, was cancelled at the last minute due to heavy rains the night before as well as that morning. While I don't mind the grey skies and cooler weather at all, we're all just hoping the rain will stay away. We've not had much of a warm or sunny summer at all this year.
Looking forward to opening the Etsy shop, which will probably be at the end of August, after the last of the summer festivals.
