It's been a while since the last post, but we've a good reason: we've been super busy not only with the new Celtic crosses and new mandalas, but also getting ready for the upcoming crafts fair taking place this Saturday in Lisheen, which is in beautiful Strandhill, in the north Sligo area.
A little bit about this crafts fair, and that's to start off by saying that it's well steeped in tradition. Now
in its fifteenth year, this fair is one of the longest established in Ireland's northwest. The fair has
evolved continually over the years, whilst always retaining the
traditional craft elements for which it receives huge support from
locals and visitors to the area.
This year promises all the usual interesting and eclectic mix of both traditional crafts as well as new craftspeople... CelticMoonCraft being one of the newbies, for which we are very excited and delighted to be a part of. Along with our Celtic mandalas, kitchen plaques and county/town name plaques, there'll be a huge selection of limited edition, ready-to-frame prints.
Among the craftspeople and artists, there'll be a local potter, a fabric printing workshop, traditional handmade butter churning, wood turning, basketmaking, some visiting crafters from the Beltra farmers' market, delicious handmade home-baked goodies from our blogger friend and baker extraordinaire Bridget from Carrick-on-Shannon, as well as herbal teas and jams from the Irish Tea Company.
For more information, or for directions on how to get to the Lisheen Craft Fair, here's the link.
Another announcement today is that Viva Health Foods, a local health food shop in south Sligo (Tubbercurry) now has several of our personalised hand-painted kitchen plaques, mandalas and county/town name plaques for sale. Two of the Tubbercurry name plaques and one of the mandalas are now part of their current window display. If you're in the Tubbercurry area, or passing through, have a look inside the shop - not only for the plaques and mandalas, but for the brilliant range of health foods they have on offer and the lovely people who work there.
Here's a photo taken of Viva's shop front window:
If
you're in the Sligo/Leitrim/Donegal area, or more specifically in and
around the Strandhill and Knocknarea area this weekend, the Lisheen
crafts fair promises to be a brilliant and enjoyable day out for the
entire family - with lots to do and refreshments/munchies, too. And even
the weather forecast is looking quite pleasant.
We hope to see you there!
We hope to see you there!

Wonderful news that the health food store is featuring your work in their window. You've got a lot done this week, keep up the momentum and have fun at the fair. Wish I could be there. I'll be the in spirit my friend.
Love,
Denni
Hi Bridget - I'm still amazed that we didn't know about this fair until you told me about it - thank you so much for that.
Looking forward not only to the fair itself, and chatting with you and catching up, but also, enjoying some of your amazing 'melting moments' and mini tarts. Yum!
Slan go foill,
June
Thanks, Denni. We're very chuffed that Jane and Tim (the owners of Viva) wanted so many of the kitchen plaques, the county name plaques and the mandalas from us. We'll be going round to more shops and galleries in the coming weeks - just as soon as we build up more 'stock' to take to them.
Thanks for the good wishes for the Lisheen fair. I wish you could be there with us, too. I know you'd fall in love with Strandhill and the whole area itself - Knocknarea and Strandhill have the most amazing positive energy, combining the ocean and the mountain.
Slan go foill,
June
I hope your craft show goes well tomorrow! I also wanted to thank you for the condolences for our baby Sadie. We really appreciate it. We still miss her terribly but are glad she was able to share her sweet spirit on our blog.
Sharla
Hi Sharla - Thanks for the good wishes for the crafts fair.
The fair is today, a Saturday, but for me, Saturdays will forever be thought of as Sadiedays, in honour and in memory of your sweet Sadie, who's just over the Rainbow Bridge, happy, healthy again, and playing with all her furry friends.
Hey June! I hope the fair will be a great success for you guys, and a lot of fun if you have any time to roam around, sounds like a fantastic way to spend a Saturday!
Hi Pili! Good to hear from you, and welcome back from beautiful India! How was your friend's wedding?
Thanks for the good wishes about the fair this past Saturday. Unfortunately, due to the ever-present rain that is Ireland - especially in the northwest of the country - the entire event had to be cancelled. Hopefully, they'll be able to re-schedule it later on this summer.
Looking forward to your next blog post - and reading all about your Indian adventures in gorgeous Goa!
Slan go foill,
June
All the best for your fair too June! I have SO much to make for mine still. Some of the sheep are still boxless! lol
Hankering for Ireland this summer but kind of glad we are not roughing it in a tent this year as I'm sure your weather is as rubbish as ours so far. Might make it over next year and will look out for fairs you are at : )
Good luck at the craft and yay for having your products on display at the health store. I will have to check them out and see what their spirolina costs. Thx for stopping by my blog and I love your blog.
Hi Aileen - Thanks for the good wishes, but, as you know yourself being in this part of the world, the rain stopped play. Completely. As in, cancelled.
It's the same with us and just running so short on time in getting ready for each fair, but so high on ideas. Somehow, though, it all seems to come together at the last minute, right before we get into the car and head off.
I'll be doing some more fairs and, with any luck, some folk music and arts festivals coming up in Donegal and Mayo over the next few months, as well as getting ready to ask about next year's fairs and festivals. It'd be brilliant to meet you the next time you travel back to Ireland.
Slan go foill,
June
Thanks again for dropping by for another visit, Gloria.
I'm not sure if Viva has an on-line store/website set up for on-line orders, but they do have a Facebook page. They've got some wonderful products in the shop, and always adding more to their inventory.
They've now got fresh produce in, as well, which is great when you can't get to or aren't that near to a farmers' market. And it's also wonderful of them to encourage and support local craftspeople.
Keep up the wonderful paintings of Frida, and all that she inspires in you.
Slan go foill,
June
